Best New Studios

Winners in this special category were nominated by judges and voted on by the public. The three studios with the most votes were crowned winners.

To be eligible, a studio must have been in existence for three years or less (as of 2016). A studio is defined as group of two or more full-time employees working under a shared studio name.

Golden Wolf opened its doors as a studio in 2013. Prior to that, members who would eventually form Golden Wolf created work while working at I Love Dust. That work is shared online and pre-dates 2013, but since The Motion Awards defines a studio as "a group of two or more full-time employees working under a shared studio name," Golden Wolf meets the eligibility requirements.

Based in Los Angeles, Midnight Sherpa was founded in 2015.

Oddfellows was officially founded in January of 2013. Prior to that, the group functioned as a loose collective with no full-time employees. (The Motion Awards defines a studio as "a group of two or more full-time employees working under a shared studio name.")

Best New Talent

Winners in this special category were nominated by judges and voted on by the public. The ten individuals with the most votes were crowned winners.

To be eligible, nominees must have been working professionally in the field of motion design for five years or less (as of 2016).
